Sunday 28th Oct 07
Up and about early getting things ready for our Sunday trail ride only I could look at my PC screen wondering why it was an hour early. B*gger did the clocks change last night dear????; With this a quick text to all making sure they weren't as daft as Carrington as I didn't want them waiting in the down poor for an hour.

RAIN: As Forrest Gump once said - it was wet, wild, and sideways and sometimes coming up, yes it was going to be a wet one. With one no show, one pulling out by saying "my quad needs a service" and one saying "I'm ill" it left a semi hard core 6.

Me Rich C - WR450, Wayne – Gasser 250, Rob - Gasser 250, Ian - WR400, Ken - WR250 and Stewart - EXC450. Stewart (TBM's Blue) was a real star, not a member but only blimin came down from Leicester for a ride with us lot. Well done fella, top bloke!!!! After deciding on what route to take I led them all behind Smokey Joes – Scorrier and up to Chiverton. We then took a great slippery lane to Silverwell Farm and then onto the Cider Farm – Damn shame they have filled in all the holes as this used to be great for bow waving others when full of the wet stuff, which it was!!!! Onto Goonhavern and back to Porthowan. This was the hardest rain I have ever ridden in and me and Woodsy have ridden in some Sh*te over the years. We battled on to the coast that you would never know was there unless you’re a Yocal as it was so thick with mist and wet stuff the cliff looked like it was resting on fluffy cotton wool. This was the point were Rob decided to pack it in, fair shout it was crap weather. Not one to give up we strived onto the chiverton were we decided to re-fuel with food and petrol and head to my house for some shelter at Chacewater. Hot chocolates issued to most we topped up on ginsters and such like and I took the opportunity to re-apply some dry gloves. Taking a number of now wet lanes we took ourselves to Grey bank's for a giggle and then to the river bank at King Harry. Just after this Ian pulled off and we went onto Frogpool and for a play in Gwannap. Then shot back to the vans. We arrived in Blackwater and in doing so found the sky was clear, blue and the sun was out, so we booted it down to Porthowan again to show Stewart the sights he missed in the morning.

I had a great day and thanks to all who came.
Sorry for the lack of pics but again it was so wet no-one wanted to stop.

Cheers

Rich C

unSunday 16th oct trerulefoot at 0900hrs Sharp!

Several turned out..infact eight in all which i guess is good, what with the summer season closing in and the cobwebs starting to get blown out of our trusty machines.........all fuelled up! a quick service(chain lube) and of we go for some muddy Action!........Sorry lads the photo's are scarce as the charger threw a wobbler and did not charge the battery, Dam thing.........Any way of we went quickly to bake and the ever interesting log run "good track work lads whoever you are" We moved swiftly on to widegates with it's newly polished slate surface that seemed to cause a problem for some, special thanks to gary for the mid lane doughnut ;0) not the last one of the day either!!!!!!!! swiftly cleaned we moved on to Trewidland and then by the most direct route onto Lerryn.. Bit of an Adventure that what with deer, owl, etc being seen and narrowly missed on the way and then the infamous cross rutted section bringing many close to tea with the the Badgers ;0)..Eventually arriving in lerryn for a much needed pasty( well worth the slog they are dam good )After a fair old yap and a pasty or two the ford had dropped enough to cross but not before gary's katoom decided to run out of juice and then sup it's reserve in four miles!!!!!!!!!emmmmmmmmm, Out with the tow rope and a quick recovery to taphouse garage , we looped inland to scawns from here and then on to Sally's hill, here Gary showed of his doughnut skills once more and also decided that he didn't need a reg plate anymore ;0) and this was all before the climb up said hill! Ever onwards we rode to Pink panter next some mentioning no names opting for the easier route, from here we rode on past colliford lake and onto Mount where again Gary didn't fail to impress with an amazing forward roll over the handle bars, After his front wheel had become firmly lodged in a well placed ditch, well! out with the repair tape, a slight adjustment to the tracking and off we bimbled ;0( again this time heading to St neot to see the pigs before moving on to St cleer and tremar where we summed up the days best offs !allthough Matt was still willing to impress, from here Kev and Steve headed off home and the rest of us headed off to St ive to tackle the newly cleared Gang and it was here that Matt the second Rookie of the day Decided to pull a massive high side manouvre ! it looked impressive as he went through the air like a rag doll............Out!for the count he was quickly carted of by Ambulance and was loked after by gary who happned to be a paramedic! tanks Mate*(we enjoyed your impressive spills) ;0) Also big thanks to Andy and Adam for getting the bikes home.......

Matt's a bit battered and bruised and sporting a broken collar bone but reckons he will be back out in a week or two....;0)...............

Thanks lads for a massive action filled day Ben.

Bob's Bimble..........

We all met up, at smokey's on a sunny suday morning in sept, ready for an unpredictable bimble with Spider Bob ;0) (maybe that should br predictable)........On parade and ready to Bimble were the following men and machines:- Ken worden on his capable wr250,Bob(aka spider Bob) on his Ancient xr200, Robin on his lush new ttr 250,And me Doris............Sorry still in cross dressing mode;0) i ment me Richie carrington on my trusty wr450......Any way off we bimbled to take in a series of lanes towards and through porthtowan and onto blue hill's and it twas here whilst having a yarn that we bumped into a couple of chaps from launceston Dougie andRoss who were looking a bit miffed at the ongoing search they were having with regards to navigating legal lanes so we invited them to join us for the day!well you would wouldn't you;0) From here we pushed on to the infamous steps and onto the lane at goonhavern where bob got into a strange conversation with a local women about how she new it twas a byway but Bikes were banned ehhhhhhhh! yeah right anyway on we pushed to Chiverton and lunch on the way i sent a shit load of Mud Kernow style in Dougs Direction, Sorry mate but tradition is tradition and it just had to be done.......................All fuelled and full we headed through a mess of lanes passing through chacewater and on to Greybanks here the usual carnage occurred with all making the long left climb and a couple nutters Ken! trying the right hand side ,after a while a couple of lads on ktm 450's turned up and saw us atthe top of the right hand climb and must of assumed we had all cleared it because much to our amusement they spent the next 15minutes trying to ascend the climb You can imagine the carnage talk about all the gear and no idea;0)..Anyway after a good giggle sorry lads, we headed back to scorrier via some lanes around poldice......I later found out that Robin who had been behind Bob had spotted a plume of smoke coming from Bobs engine when he arrived at Bobs machine To his mirth and suprise Bobs dip stick had come, out and his engine and leg looked like they had been tarmaced, Bob without getting off his bike picked up a bit of rubber off the road and plugged the hole..............................................Thanks for a fantastic day lads regards Richie Carrington

The Martin jennings memorial run....

Nice to see this event well supported by Ktrc members what a fantastic day, even Ian major made it with his walking stick strapped to his back ;0)...A big thanks to Dave saunsby for the event and thanks to all the various clubs and emergency services for making the day a real blast..............

K.T.R.C. Roseland mayhem...On an ever brightening sunday morning the following ktrc members met up at smokey joes...!Ken on hiswr250.Jim on the mk2 super tanker, jamie on the gleaming drz,Ross on his new crf 250,Wayne on his gleaming wheelie mobile;0) Gasgas, Andy(knees)Davies on his super grunty katoom 450, Richie on his wr450 and moi steve woods on a splendid katoom 300... Well after the normal Banter we set of towards Porthtowan at a fairly Sedate pace led by Richie for the first leg of this epic! After negotiating myrtle cottage lane and manor parsley 1 and 2 we arrived on the clifftop byway in porthtowan just in time for a quick photo shoot!.....What a bunch of poser's emmmmmmmm.......

AAnyway pose finished we set off once again via the byway going up the opposite cliff and onto the byway at sk8 and so onto silverwell 2 and 3 and still no badgers in sight :0). from here we pushed on to the long and wet! byway at the cider farm and after a quick blat down that i took the lead for the next leg of the journey.....

Hot to trot we quickly came across the first set of byways of leg two,all around the Goonhavern area also negotiated without inccident from here we pushed on to the cracking lane at and river crossing at Treharres the mud and water certainly did fly!!!!!!!...........See what i mean , everyone cleared the crossing with the same sort of fx as seen in this photo and rounded of the crossing with a bit of a roost off on tuther side emmm ;0) from here we pushed on for a couple miles by road before a much needed fuel and food stop at Tresillian here we also came across Ian major on his crutch's looking woefully at the group :0)After lunch we pushed on to the first of the ucrs on the roseland starting with everyones favourite's treffry and merther the farmer was out with his camera again filming us opening and shutting gates and riding with respect as we always do around livestock as you can see by the photo's the sheep were pretty chilled out..After plodding through The ucr adjacent to the farmer's sheep filled field we took on the long slippery lane upto merther farm and i am pretty sure Ross spotted a large badger, Anyway we had a chat with the farmer at merther whilst Ross was mucking around...From the farm we pushed on to the trials section at gare cleaned by all allthough Wayne decided i wasn't muddy enough and promptly filled me in emmm end of the lane favour returned ;0) From gare we pushed on to the interesting climb at freewater and it was at the top of this little beauty that Andy decided to catch his foot on a badger! and promptly dislocated his right Knee..Ouch but what a credit to all who no him young Andy was hardly a wimper passed his lips and he even endured the hour of p@ss taking dished out by yours truly whilst we waited for the ambulance........ When the ambulance arrived they promptly popped his leg back in and carted him off to hospital, whilst Kens dad came out with a van and picked up Andy's bike ! what a star... Anyway Andy off to the doc we carried onto the absolute carnage at Pensagillas .....................followed by more of the same at Trevarrick! ;0)....From there we pushed onto Bobs ford and boy was it deep not helped by certain people trying to grow gardens on fellow riders helmets (shocking.........to be continued

KTRC NIGHT RUN - APRIL 07

At a very early 3:30am on Sunday morning Ross Sheppard on his great little Pampera 250, Ken Worden on his WR250 and me Rich Carrington on my WR450, decided it was time to do a little Hasslehoffing (Night riding). As promised a prize was to be issued to the best home made lighting, with this a clear winner with his bright idea was Ross, his 1 million candle power head torch won by miles. Courtesy of Speedy Hire (Truro) the prize was an all in one socket set, good effort mate!
Off we went with the new KTRC marshal vests on into the depths of Manor Parsley, Porthtowan and then all the respective other lanes up to Goonhavern. With the odd few looks from taxi driver's too-ing & throw-ing from Newquay, we made a beeline for the 24hr petrol station at Chiverton Cross via Cider farm for a coffee stop. Once fully stocked on caffeine and Mars bars we took ourselves down to grey banks for a giggle. Sorry Ross but my camera just went off as I ran to help you.

Take two and all successfully cleared the famous climb, then took our sorry arses down to Lamouth Creek, just up from the King Harry ferry for a good earned rest and watched the sun rise, nice. Once inspired we went for a giggle down to Gwennap, the funny thing was that after pulling Ross out Ken rode straight across the same point. After a bloody good roosting session we headed back over to Smokey Joes for breakfast.
Like to thank Ross & Ken for a really good laugh and also Speedy Hire for the generous prize.

On Saturday 21st July I was thinking of doing another, but this time we will start around 8pm and ride until all have had enough. I will post it up on the website a bit closer to the time.

Rich Carrington

A superb event, the KTRC Wreckers team of Steve (Wilson), Rossi, Eric,
Ross -Shep- Sheppard and myself starting and later joining with Mike Wooley on his mighty 525! Courtesy of my GPS, the blue line shows where we were meant to go and the red one where we did - not too far out most of the time A real tour of Cornwall, especially the Demelza section that nobody could find....
Thanks to Steve, Rich, Jim, Ken, Mark (and probably a few others!) for cheering us on at Bluehills - if only we cleaned all the other sections

Check out all the pics in the: Gallery

East meets West (and quite a few badgers!) 17-03-07

Amazingly arriving 20 mins early (for once...) the Highwayman was already littered with a serious number of bikes: Steve (Woods) on the famous WR400 , Ian on (yes you guessed it) another WR400, Rich on the shiny WR450, Ken on the WR250 and Ross on the equally blue (but non Yamaha) Pampera 250. Changing to yellow we had a trio of DRZ's - Mark, Jason and Eric. The ubiquitous agent orange was supplied by Gerald on a KTM450 and on Tony on a KTM 250 stroker. A dash of red was supplied by Robin on the CRF250 and the green meanie KDX ridden by Wayne. Finally tipping the scales in favour of the Yam contingent I led off on the Supertanker.

A 'no-lanes left out' lap of Dobwalls gave us the chance to enjoy Moorswater en masse - some interesting lines were taken through the ford!

Picking up the route through Boduel, "horsejumps" lane, Scawns and Trevillis the ground was super grippy with just enough gloop to give a bit of a shimmy on the quicker stuff. Kilmansag, Beara farm and the sheep field passed without incident and then Shillamill beckoned.

Zipping up to get good vantage point for pics, I wasn't disappointed! A 'trouble at mill' caption perhaps? Spot the badgers... After all the fun Steve decided the top end of the lane also warranted finding the critters with some interesting hedge manouevres. The obligatory Crooksball, Pendriscott and Penquite followed into Duloe Woods, where we exited out by Tredinnick - no hard man Muchlarnick stuff as we were running short of time for meeting with Steve Wilson.

Sandplace was next on the cards - no off's at the famous water pipes this week, Jon still holds the record! Dropping down through Widegates we were en-route for the Trerulefoot meet when Jason had a bit of an off on the DRZ (the undisputed Badger award of the day... ouch... and a pair of Scott goggles when you're out again) after a bit of recovery time we were off again and met Steve, albeit understandably a bit late.

Waving adios to Jason and Tony, Steve Wilson took up the guiding and we set course for Trewandra. Disaster soon struck Exiting the ford, Steve (Woods) WR lost drive and ground to a halt - no sprocket nut or lock washer... bizarre as this one was even loctited on- I blame Magical Trevor. Necessity is the Mother of Invention so a jubilee clip soon got the WR underway again, unfortunately in the direction of the van..

Steve Wilson, minus a few more of us, guided the rest of the ride. Never did hear about Morden...

A grand day out... Cheers Bish

Ten go Loopy (to Lerryn) 11-03-07

Trerulefoot hosted a busy meet for the Lerryn loop ride - Eric DRZ, Tony KTM 200, Tapster XR400, Barry XR400, Ken WR250, Jon XR250, Barry WR426, Paul CRM 250, Kev CCM404 (now a shade whiter!) and myself on the Supertanker XT. Enjoying sun instead of the standard rain, we made brisk progess to Widegates - the lane catching a few out on the steep hairpin. Dropping down into Morval, the newly cut out lane was literally resurfaced in brush - very weird to ride over with a few spectacular wobbles... Barry's WR escaping a truly impressive excursion up the hedge.A bit of fording at the bottom of Muchlarnick proved popular especially as I sunk the XT in a mud hole A couple of helpers soon freed it and the fun started once more... Kev took some vids - click to view them Fording times two and Supertanker takes to water (you might need the Nokia Player which you can download from HERE)

No mishaps heading out of Duloe where we exited through Penquite and worked our way down through Scawns. The next lane was still obstructed with the mega horse jumps - Knightrider literally did, Evel Knievel style... almost into the XT whilst others took the hedge route..

NorNorth Boduel, the Moorswater loop and Railway Lane took us up to the Dobwalls lunchstop where Eric and Paul headed back. Pastied up we headed across the lane towards Bradock, having some fun in the Dip and Sally's Hill on the way.

th

A short diversion to Shillamill proved fun with some interesting lines on the rock step - Video A

Then threading a route to Lerryn we headed throught the Ford (whoops Tapster... watch that throttle
The The lanes through Penpol, Trenewan, Watergate and the super long rut then beckoned with the obligatory stop at the Pelynt Spar (I think we keep'm in business...). With Trerulefoot in mind, we headed back through Trevillis (see Video), Duloe, Sandplace and Trebrownbridge - Jon picked up the new Badger award of a pair of Scott Goggles for his over the handlebar antics over the waterpipes!

All in all brilliant day... Cheers Bish

Wheal Maid Demo...#2 Pics from the Pit 03-03-07

Steve captured some excellent pics from the pit at Wheal Maid, the us looking at you looking at us angle... confused? I am
Missed a couple of names off the first Blog namely Wayne and Tim Luscombe - it was their calls and emails that got the KTRC going on this, so thanks again guys.

Wheal Maid Demo...#1 03-03-07
A fantastic event attended by twentysomething KTRC'ers (thanks everyone for turning out) and over 300 others!

The horse box converted to bike duties for the day I hauled Nick and Wayne's bikes down, actually arriving early at SJ's (can be done...) Around ten riders then set off for some mayhem courtesy of Steve.

I heard that the Greybanks descent happened rather unexpectedly for some Although no Badger awards for this ride!

Meeting up with the full crowd at the industrial estate, all sorts (and bikes!) were evident - trials, MX, trail, classic, sports, cruisers, mountain bikes, 4x4's and a very friendly bunch of policemen doing the ushering.

Protest posters attached, things soon got underway with the short road section to Wheal Maid

Those bikeless for the day had to walk! (the Jack Russell was impressed) and initially wondered where the bikes had gone - the valley at Wheal Maid soundproofs the bikes amazingly well. With military organisation, groups enjoyed tours around the banks etc (although I heard that the extreme stuff taken on by some group guides was wisely avoided by the masses... Steve and Seemond ).

Grouping up for the press, the lone horse (lots of other horse riders attended, but didn't think their mounts were up for over 100 bikes at once...) rode to inspection:

To round of the event Chris Mallebar addressed the crowd to great applause - people from all sides of biking, horseriders, mountain bikers, 4x4'ers, kids, over 300 cheered him on.

A great day for Cornish off-roading - it shows what can be achieved by everyone working as a team. It was great to see the TRF chairman supporting - we're all for continuing this team work to achieve more in the future.
We'll feedback on what happens next... to be continued...

Dambusters, Sheepcatchers ... 21-02-07
100km of midweek mud, including sheep repatriation duties... don't believe a word of Neil and Andy's wind up... Alternatively, captions on a postcard please Full blog in due course.

Torrential Rain & Riders... 18-02-07
Midday at Route 38 was a competition between the KTRC riders and American Classic cars... who outnumbered who? With 14 set to turn out we had an 11th hour call from a stranded Knightrider - pulled out valve in Plymouth, but repairs underway... sadly the spare tube also began to leak, so we were down to 13. Steve on the Beta, Steve's brother Bob on an Alp, Seemond 250 KTM, Andy 300 KTM, Wayne on the KDX, Ben 125 KTM, Rossi on his minter EC300, Richard 450 KTM, Eric on a DRZ, Tapster on the XR400, Brian on another XR400, Alex on a DT125 and myself on the just put back together Supertanker. Eric and Alex immediately owned up to Birthdays (not such a good idea with roost merchants like Andy and Seemond around) whilst Rossi wisely didn't let on his until he left (but looking clean)....
Setting off towards Tideford, we were soon into Trewandra where the torrential rain part comes in, the lane had turned into a river! Some impressive steps had been scoured out... some people might have almost gone over the handlebars... (no names). Having negotiated the river, slimy field, rocks and slurry we split into Hares and Hounds, Steve haring off and the Supertanker on the scent in pursuit. My group had enjoyed Dannet, Pillaton and a very gloopy Trehill before arriving at the St Mellion photoshoot! Good clean ascents were had over the hill apart from Alex who made it, but then slid into the gloop and Wayne who invented a new line that involved exiting the lane altogether... Kawasakis, eh?
St Mellion conquered, we took in the Byway to the roundabout and transited to St Dominic. Down the UCR towards Morden and we spied a couple of hares waiting to go up, including that experienced Morden gripster Rossi - evidently the Gasser wasn't having it on the greasy slate though, as we found out later
We looped up the next lane and headed down Morden where a lone Steve was sitting on the Beta looking rather pleased with his two dab climb - the others we passed looked a bit more Mordenised! Having warned everyone off the front brake and the joys of the ice like slate, we slithered down. Amazingly the Supertanker and I descended with no offs, all the more surprising as a lack of fuel meant the bugger wouldn't run on the steep bits! Behind me carnage pretty well ensued as Morden laid on an initiation crash fest! At least we were'nt going up.
A succession of lanes brought us to Drakewalls where the groups met up refuelling bikes and people, although the busy Spar wasn't ideal for us liberally crud infested by the mud.

Losing a few and taking off as one group, we enjoyed a diverse selection of lanes towards Chillaton, led by Ben in so many different directions that I'd be hard put to find these on the map! Finally recognising Callington we scooted towards Golberdon and then back and down Bowling Green. Alex got his 18th celebration with a major filling in that left him more mud that person! A quick road blast towards Liskeard had us braving Dunnerdake farm, the ground almost swallowing the XR400s and bikes take all sorts of routes to try and ascend. Safely onto terra firma the group dwindled a bit more as Ben, Steve and Wayne headed off and the remainder made for Blunts, Wisewandra and Trewandra to finish off.

A truly awesome afternoon, great to have Brian and Alex out for the first time, and the XT a real bitch to clean - absolutely lampered everywhere in sludge... Bish

Waynes KDX was even worse by the looks of it

  Paseo de misterio! 17-02-07
Or "A million and one ways to catch a badger"

Well on a dry! saturday morning at 0930hrs the following turned up at Smokey's :-
Moi That is Steve woods on the magnificent WR400 ;0) Doris, sorry scrub that.......... Richie Carrington on the gleaming WR450, Ian Major on yet another fine WR400 (no orange ehhhhhhh) Mark Sansby on a reliable but muddy DRZ400 ;0) Jason Venton on a minter DRZ400, the very capable Ken Worden on an armour plated WR250 (have a look next time your on a ride out with him, he's got more ali then Orchards on that bike)....;0) And last but not least Ross Sheppard on the GasGas Pampera 250.............
So all the bike talk and introductions out of the way we set off at a brisk pace to the UCR at Blackwater and then onto the "byway in the layby" also in Blackwater this was lovely and greasy but did not claim any casualties, damn ;0), we then proceeded along the byway's at:-
Three Burrows, Penstraze and Jolly's Bottom before arriving at the dangerous crossroads in Chacewater, again unscathed! Here we engaged the Byway at "Loaders" before taking on the series of cracking lanes known as Kerly Downs, plenty of water on these and I believe someone towards the back of the group may even have stalled! but still no offs :0(.......... Anyway ever onwards we took in a couple more Byway's before ending up at the byway Known as Grey banks and here utter carnage ensued as the steep climb had a lovely greasey coat on! Just about everyone present including yours truly Dived into the undergrowth after that ever elusive Badger at some point ;0) But eventually after much huffing abd puffing and every excuse under the sun (tyres knackered, oh I feel faint, my arse is hanging out ) we all scrabbled to the top some standing, some sitting, others flying off the handle bars................

From here we proceeded to the Byway running past Killifreth Woods and on by road to the Enduro at Radnor! We arrived just in time for the Start and a bacon butty! We watched the race for half an hour or so but when one of the competitors managed to land a fair old chunk of roost in my coffee I decided it was time for a fast exit, so on we went via a few lanes to the Long muddy lane at Mawla and onto Manor Parsley 1 and 2 the usual carnage but no offs just plenty of pushing and shoving ;0) from here we carried on over the cliff top byways at Porthtowan and the byroad to refuel at St Agnes, all fuelled up we carried on to the byway known as Football Lane, and then to the Blue Hills trials section, I actually managed to fluff this the first time and had to go around again to restore composure (Bloody tyre)......

From here we took on the aptly named Garlic Lane (nice one Ian) Before stopping for a play.......... Play time finished, Jason called it a day saying something about feet and cold emmmmmmmm :0) and we again went on our way and descended the infamous steps at Trevellas....... then it was on to the byways at- Lambriggen , Cider Farm, Silver Well and finally the series of really muddy wet little numbers leading out to Chiverton garage. Here we called it a day and went via the few remaining lanes towards home and tea................................... Cheers Steve

  Trois-Yama et un Ross!
Ian Major - Sunday 11th February
St
Starting from Le Caƒe, Smokey Joes, Team Yama-Trois were joined by Ross, (our Back-up Crew) in his Pickup, for some Dakar training a la Cornwaille. Not wanting to be left out, he decided to throw his Trial Bike in the back and was soon showing some very Lampkin-esque style.

With a southern loop of mud and stone lanes completed in super-fast time, we headed north of the A30 with Steve and Ken taking turns to Roost each other, boy it’s amazing how much cleaner I arrive home when I’m leading a ride! At the top of ‘MP1’ we caught up a with mud splattered group of friendly faces enjoying the empty lanes, but declined their kind invitation to join them, in favor of continuing our intense training schedule and the fact I was enjoying being clean for a change.

Not long later and heading toward Perrenporth, Steve decided a fallen tree we had squeezed under since Christmas on ‘Garlic Lane’ was to hinder us no more and produced his new flick-saw. Convincing us that tree removal was an important Dakar skill to master, we took turns to saw the trunk and offending branches, much improving the view for the houses that back onto the lane, but did we get any thanks………? . Needless to say this huge amount of effort prompted an early lunch of wine and cheese and a plan to finish the day how we started, with a French lesson, no.. no.. I’m only joking, some hill climbing. Until next week, au revoir.

Three Mud-sketteers
Saturday 10th February

Need I say more, he's back and the Gassers obviously nearly run in!

Full report in due course.

But leave you with Steve on the trials section (doesn't do the 50 deg slope justice) - we have found a top one!

Also met a TRoF member near St Neot, didn't say a lot but let us ride the lane...

Crowd Control!
Sunday 4th February

Sunday 4th - Azure blue skies, polka dot clouds, could be a tourist advert for Cornwall... Although the 14 strong KTRC riders of course would not be part of the rural idyll! Present and correct were Gerald on the KTM 450, Eric on a DRZ, Paul (Finnigan) - stroker (poor memory, apologies), Ivor - TTR250, Mark on a KTM 400, Steve - Beta, Seemond - KTM 250 stroker, Andy - KTM 300 stroker, Paul (Tapster) - XR400R, Wayne - KDX 250, Darren (Carty) - KDX 250?, Andy - CCM404, Robbie on the KLX 250 and myself on the Supertanker.

Splitting into 2 groups we trailed towards Muchlarnick - were the Supertanker got the honours in my group, but was soon eclipsed by Seemond, Andy, Carty and Robbie from Steve's group as they flashed past to the top! No sign off Steve... Another puncture - He's like the Bermuda Triangle for inner tubes... (more of that later...)

Ivor, Paul, Gerald and Eric needing to get back, we split and Ivor (first ride on the TTR, and top performance) was last seen grinning as he departed with award for extreme badger watching

Hooking up again with the re-inflated Steve, we refueled (ourselves) at Pelynt Spar shop (should be an official KTRC sponsor with the number of visits that we make!) and completed a circuit to Lerryn. Tapster had some badgering fun, attempting hedge top manoeuvres at Trenewan and slate inspection in the next lane... Seemond's, water antics in the ford were soon repaid when he was last seen trying a special section hedge hill climb at Kingston. Apart from various bouts of infilling, the route back to Millendreath was pretty uneventful - the lane there made up for it, a top rut and climb. Feeling deflated again, Steve's special inner tube effect was once more back in action and with a distinctly flat looking MT43 he headed off. Ending the day, the rest of us transitted the normal suspects to Trerulefoot.

A top day on the trails... Bish

Corrida de Toros
Ian Major - Sunday 4th February

9:30 Sunday and the morning sun streams down on the map as we decide which technical ascent to despatch first. With four riders out this morning and all with at least one Nemesis to conquer, it's decided the 'Grey Hill' presents too great a challenge to resist first.
As appointed leader for the day, it's left to me to tackle the imposing beast with my trusty WR400 and the expert advice imparted by Seemond on our last visit.
Whether it was the sunshine, the brave pills we all consumed at breakfast or the fact there was no pressure, we all cleared the 'easier' West passage numerous times before Ken decided, today was the day to test his ample skill and WR250 on the formidable East face.
Parking his GasGas out of harms way, and with scant regard for his own safety, Matador Ross bravely stood at the summit, encouraging Ken, as he wheelied his way ever closer and then over the top to huge applauses.

Thankfully Mark our DRZ riding photographer was on hand to capture this and other events during the day not excluding a penchant for water by one bike (fast becoming a weekly occurrence).

Working our way over to Manor Parsley and more practice was had in both directions, when after recording a couple of clean runs, Ross decided the anorexic Pampera could lose a few extra ounces and decrease it's turning circle in one fast and easy modification.
After visiting the more of usual suspects, we arrived at the jumps near St. Agnes with Mark showing us how it's done, but not before filling in the waiting paparazzi.
The afternoon saw more of the same mix of hilarity's and lanes, but with the sun and petrol getting low we called it a day, everyone still in one piece. Job done and handed back safely to Mr. Woods.

The Roseland stomp
Sunday the 28th Jan 2007 at 0930 hours saw the following pioneers! On parade and ready for take off at Smokey Joes:-
First as always your truly Steve Woods on the ever popular WR400, Ian Major Again! on another leading brand mount yep a WR400, Ken Worden on an adequate but prone to rear tyre deflation! WR250, Mark on the reliable DRZ400, Ross on the "oh no i hate rut's" Gas Gas 250, Jim butler on a beast of an XT600 and last but not least Bob Hancock on an equally "Vintage and well used" XR200 ....
So introductions final fettling and general waffling out of the way we set off at a fairly mild pace to the first lane of the day known as Myrtle cottage lane............. and so onto Manor Parsley! Today as we had a fair old ride ahead of us of about 90 miles, I opted for the ascent of Manor Parsley1 and the descent of Manor Parsley2 so on the whole avoiding the usual carnage that occurs on mp2 ;0)
Well I say on the whole, because I do believe a certain chap with an XT600 managed a dab, with his knee at the top of mp1 (that's after the hard bit).........And so virtually unscathed we moved on to the pair of cliff top byways at Porthtowan...before zipping up the lane known as Silverwell 2 and then onto the lane at Wheal Butson with its superb tricky, but shallow, climb. From here we took on the lanes through Goonbell that lead out to the byway known as Football Lane, this was taken in stride before arriving at the tricky little trials section at Bluehills, completed by all again without a problem.

We moved smartly on to the short but action packed byway at Trevellas. I say action packed as it's a) like a quagmire... b) has a narrow but deep channelled out stream across it.... c) has a tree down across it so bad that you have to get off your machine lean it over to 45 degrees and push to get through (Ok! but not funny on an XT600 ) and finally it has a steep tricky little climb to top it off. Anyway all sorted with the minimum of muttering!!! and so we moved promptly onto the infamous steps just around the corner... Damn everbody cleared them too!....... and so ever onwards to the long quick byway at Cider Farm........ followed by the twisty quick un' at Wheal Frances... and a muddy little number at Perranwell from here we moved on to what is the longest stretch of roadwork of the day in an easterly kind of direction towards Tresillian.. On route though we took in the UCR at Tretherres that includes a "walk through the park" followed by a river crossing that runs along side an old slab bridge here Jims XT decided to slurp a little water into the carb but with are very own engineer on hand "spider Bob" promptly sorted it!! At the end of this lane we moved on via road to fuel and lunch at Tresillian fuel station.........

All fed and watered we moved on to the first of the lanes (UCR) on the Roseland known asTreffry farm lane, and as we neared the end of this we passed a farmer in a large tractor who is known to many of us! He didn't say anything (unusual) but had a Sheepish! look on his face as we rounded the corner and reached the entrance to the next legal right of way known as Merther lane (UCR). The reason for his look was obvious, the gate appeared to be chained and padlocked at both ends. But! on closer inspection the chain and padlock only encircled the post and gate on the easy to use end ;0) So we lifted the gate out of the way accessed the lane as is our legal right and replaced the gate as found (not before taking photos I might add) and continued on are merry way up the UCR to the farm at Tresawsan great lane and a real hoot to ride........ The only downside to this was that somewhere en route Ken had decided to ride over a six inch nail that was firmly embedded in his bike tyre emmm.... (perhaps a new tactic in case you got through the gate? - Bish ) We tried the easy method first of removing the nail and spinning the tyre to see if the tyre gloop would seal this mineshaft! And hey ho, for the moment it appeared to work. So we pushed on via some pretty country lanes to the trials section on the UCR in Lamorran wood a bit of fun was had here before moving on via the slippery rutted UCR towards Gare.. On arrival at the farm complex in Gare Kens make shift tyre repair had given up leaving no option! it had to be sorted so Ken, Ian And Bob, removed the wheel, tyre and tube and repaired the puncture with the worst patches I have ever seen! Any way job done for now we pushed on to the fantastic lane at Freewater! After ascending this Ken's tyre was flat again and so Ian came up with the worst suggestion of the day Lets put my can of tyre foam in it! and yep you guessed it the tyre stayed up for the rest of the day.......... From this point we pushed on via Tregony to the pair of lanes known as Pensagillas where the usual carnage ensued allthough if recorded Ross would have won a place in the guiness book of records for most badger sightings along the Rutted out approach ;0) Mind you he did give Bob a laugh who was rolling with laughter at his "Rutty behaviour" from here we pushed on smartly to the next UCR at Tregerrick again utter carnage ensued before we all arrived back on the tarmac, allthough a tad weary.
From here we pushed on by road to a much needed fuel stop, before carrying on to mayhem at the tidal ford in Trelonk Known as "Bobs ford" due to an inccident on a previous trip ;0) all crossed without any serious off's allthough Ian did enjoy a brief mud bath... and Ross cleared the water feature feet up with an impressive bow wake, as shown in the photo..
We then pushed on to the supurb ucr at philleigh before finishing on the Roseland with a trip over the River Fal on the King Harry ferry........

We disembarked the ferry ten minutes later and moved swiftly on via a plethora of byways and UCRs:- Wrinklyn, Cowlands, Kea woods, Carrine common and Baldhu to the rides conclusion at Sunny Corner. Here we rapidly said goodbye and went on our ways due to the failing light, and the fact that Bobs front light had just packed in...........
Top day lads Steve
